The Nonwovens Institute offers a variety of services to the nonwovens and affiliated industries. These included Product Development, Analytical Services, Training Programs and Consulting.
We do not offer expert witness services and will not get involved in any work related to litigations.
Product Development Services
The Nonwovens Institute offers a series of pilot facilities for manufacturing various types of nonwovens. Our Cotton Inc. Staple nonwovens lab offers carding, crosslapping, needling, calending. Wet-lay and airlay web forming is also offered. These capabilities are modular and allow the formation of very unique nonwovens.
The Nonwovens Institute's Partners’ SpunMelt Pilot Lab represents a unique world class research and product development laboratory. The line currently includes carding, bicomponent fiber formation in both spunbond and meltblown, in-line hydroentangling for bonding and splitting bicomponent fibers, and thermal bonding equipment.
The lab equipment can be operated at full commercial throughput speeds (approx. 300m/min), while only requiring material for a 1/2 meter wide line. This will allow our clients to use relatively low volumes of raw materials to produce working prototypes.
The Nonwovens Institute's Staple Nonwovens Pilot Lab currently includes carding, cross-lapping, needle punching and thermal bonding capabilities as well as a Scanfeed chute feed system (This system reproduces webs similar to those produced by airlay) and wetlay web formation. These processes are modular and can be used in many different combinations.
The Nonwovens Institute's Staple Nonwovens Pilot Lab will receive a 4-board needle loom and a 4-zone flat over by the third quarter of 2007.
